‘Photography & The Unknown’ is dit jaar het thema van ons - voor de gelegendheid digitale - inspiratieweekend. Hoewel dit onbekende vaak aanleiding geeft tot angst, is het voor de kunstenaar een welkome stimulans. Het onbekende haalt je als fotograaf uit jouw comfortzone, stelt jouw visie en werkproces in vraag en verruimt jouw blik.
Het onbekende roept vragen op, prikkelt het brein en de verbeelding en nodigt bovenal uit om ontdekt te worden.
FOCUS OP PORTFOLIO- BB in lockdown
Ook voor het begeleiden en het geven van feedback aan beeldmakers zet BREEDBEELD in deze dagen haar werking online verder.
Met dit project zoomen we in op een aantal aspecten van het artistieke portfolio. Deze zullen uitgelicht worden in een serie online video’s, waarbij een aantal deelnemers tevens de kans krijgen om hun portfolio online te bespreken met de begeleider van dienst.
Valentina Stellino maakt je wegwijs in het selecteren van beelden en het opbouwen van een sequentie. Stefan Vanthuyne zet je op weg met het schrijven van een artist statement bij je werk.

What role does intimacy play in photography? In today's society, where we are constantly connected to and surrounded by imagery, true intimacy can be hard to find. Photographers can be seen as people who track down intimacy, both real or fake. Taking intimate photographs may involve preserving our own mysteries or desires. Does exploring emotions of others and ourselves mean that we are being our true selves, or does it mean the opposite - abandoning what we know about ourselves and stepping out of who we actually are?
Many photographers throughout history have stepped away from behind the camera and stepped into her/his own image. Instead of being a witness, the photographer turns herself/himself into a part of her own storytelling. And can an image without people ever be an intimate image?
Belgian photographer Valentina Stellino will also talk about her own work in the context of the lecture.

Photography and graphic design has more in common than one can imagine. Knowing both skills gives creatives a lot of advantages in a world that requires more and more multitalents. Understanding of composition, color and communication binds photography and graphic design together, while technical skills, typography and work locations set these two art school majors apart.
The ultimate medium where these two practises meet is the art book. And how can one best use traditional graphic design mediums to showcase photography? Can graphic design ever contribute to the conceptual part of photography?
Graphic designer and photographer Nanó Wallenius will talk about going from studying photography to working with graphic design and what she has learned along the way.
